In the Single Variable Calculus course, Professor Gross discussed the calculus of a single real variable in which the domain of a function was a subset of the real numbers. Now, in the language of vectors, a function maps 2 and 3 dimensional vectors into the set of real numbers. He then uses these functions to show how we compute the velocity and acceleration of an object moving in space. Find materials for this course in the pages linked along the left. Use OCW to guide your own life-long learning, or to teach others. These courses are substantially more complete than typical OCW courses, and include new custom-created content as well as materials repurposed from previously published courses.MIT Open Course Ware is a free & open publication of material from thousands of MIT courses, covering the entire MIT curriculum. Freely browse and use OCW materials at your own pace. We don't offer credit or certification for using OCW. Click here for a complete list of OCW Scholar courses. While a few of these were limited to chronological reading lists and discussion topics, a majority provided homework problems and exams (often with solutions) and lecture notes. Some courses also included interactive web demonstrations in Java, complete textbooks written by MIT professors, and streaming video lectures. The materials have been organized to support independent study. The website includes all of the materials you will need to understand the concepts covered in this subject. The key here is not to compare course titles but to compare course syllabi (the contents of what each course covers, including titles of classes and summaries). As Tyler Timm says, Calc I II = Single Variable Calculus = MIT’s 18.01.
